Who is CAMcad?

CAMcad Technologies, Inc was founded in 1991 by Don McKillop, who is still heavily involved in day to day operations. Initially our business was totally dedicated to selling and servicing SURFCAM CAM software, and while SURFCAM is still a major component of our business, CAMcad today is involved in SURFCAM, Predator DNC systems, postprocessor development, and custom software to automate difficult manufacturing processes.

CAMcad Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1991 to sell and service CAM Programming Software in the state of Florida. Over the years we've expanded operations to Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

We are a professional CAM Software and Services organization that adds value in the form of training, service, and project assistance to each product it markets.  

CAM Software

As Surfware's number one SURFCAM dealer several months each year for the past ten years, we have maintained steady growth while other resellers have come and gone.  Our main strength is our staff – we are proud of each of our people many of whom have been with us 10+ years.

customer Service

Our customers know they can get everything they need directly from a single source.  Services include: classroom training, hardware or network selection and configuration, on-site custom training classes, postprocessor configuration, emergency part programming assistance and custom extensions designed to automate SURFCAM for specific needs.

Portable CMM Technology

In 1993 we became Faro Technologies' first industrial dealer for the reverse engineering market, working closely with Surfware and Faro Technologies to refine the SURFCAM/Faro interface.

Today we have many customer sites using Faro digitizers, and we provide training in the use of Faro equipment in conjunction with SURFCAM and offer contract digitizing services to assist users with difficult projects.

Laser scanning technology

In 1994 we began selling 3D laser scanners, and today we work closely the distributor of Minolta portable scanners. From this effort we later developed our own product (COPious) as a low-cost tool to manipulate the high volume of data these systems generate.

Awards

In 1996 CAMcad won the Small Business Sub-Contractor of the Year award from both NASA Kennedy Space Center and McDonnell Douglas as the result of cost and time-savings associated with payload processing – our solution involved SURFCAM and a Faro unit.

Surfware Dealer Council

CAMcad is a charter member of Surfware's dealer council, offering suggestions to Surfware management regarding product improvements, marketing, technology, and business direction. Under contract to Surfware, we created custom postprocessors for complex machines that Surfware markets through its dealer channel.

DNC and MANAGEMENT DATA ACQUISITION

CAMcad began selling the Predator DNC product line in 1999, and as with other products, our turnkey service and support capabilities are second to none.  We maintain a high degree of proficiency in remote network configuration and remote diagnosis.

Custom Software

Over the past 10+ years CAMcad has developed custom solutions to difficult manufacturing problems faced by our customers.  These solutions include custom postprocessor extensions, on-site programming services, consulting services, custom extensions using the SURFCAM or  SolidWorks API , and stand-alone custom software.  Our largest project produced a web-enabled hands-off manufacturing system that allows our customer to output 250 unique family-of-parts per day, 95% of them cut with no human intervention.

POST PROCESSOR TECHNOLOGY

We have developed our own postprocessor technology to fill a void. OmegaPost™ allows accounts with multiple CAM systems a consistent interface to their machines independent of the CAM system that generated the toolpath.

WEB-CONFERENCING

With the advent of affordable high speed Internet communications, CAMcad now offers Internet-based technical support and training options. In addition, our critical file backup services enable our users to take comfort that no matter what the emergency; CAMcad has backup files if/when they need them.
