SURFCAM has been an excellent general-purpose 2~5 Axis CAM programming
system for job shop and large corporation tool room use, i.e. for shops
machining other companies' products, working equally well with solid
model data, surface model data, 2D CAD data, or from blueprint. Similar
to a machinist's toolbox, SURFCAM contains numerous practical tools for
creating edit-free NC code, even when working with "dirty" CAD data.
Mill unlimited path/island Contour with tool centerline or part
edge programming and parametric entry/exit motion with total gouge
protection. Pocket with spiral, zig-zag, or zig-only cutting
patterns and parametric entry/exit motion with total gouge
protection.
Automatic Plunge, Ramp, or Helical motion types eliminate
the need for construction geometry to position the tool. Window
selected geometry with automatic boundary ordering and selection of
the closest user-supplied plunge point per region.
Drill, Countersink, PeckDrill, RH Tap, LH Tap, RigidTap,
RigidLTap, Bore, BackBore and three user defined cycles with
shortest path ordering and Fanuc-style cycle retract control.
2-Axis Wire EDM support for Wire Thread-CutOff, Tank
Flushing, Multi-pass Skim cuts, Glue Stops, Straight Line, Teardrop,
or Offset Curve LeadIn-Out moves, Blend, Sharp, or Loop corner
rounding treatments, multiple cutting strategies, offset, and stock
to leave.
4-Axis Wire EDM support for top and bottom profiles.
Construction View Machining for 4-Axis or 5-Axis indexing.
Machine Datum to change the coordinate system and origin
to adapt to origin shifts. The corresponding NC code output will be
with respect to that local coordinate system instead of the WORLD
axes. This also allows redefinition of machining coordinate system
without disturbing geometry and toolpath associativity.
Advanced Hole Processing templates. Multi-tool templates
for common hole-making features. Open existing hole processes from
library or create and store user-definable templates. Extensive
hole pattern sorting and optimization including reverse direction
for subsequent tools, 4- and 5-Axis vector biasing, etc.
Pocket & Contour multiple island height finishing.
Face Milling of irregular boundaries with spiral, zig-zag, or
zig-only cut patterns and automatic clearance moves.
Automated Groove, Corner-Round, and Chamfering toolpath
generators professionally machine these frequently encountered
features.
2-Axis Rest Milling removes material left by larger tool in a
POCKET or CONTOUR toolpath. · Internal/External Thread
Milling of straight or tapered threaded holes or bosses with helical
entry/exit moves.
5-Axis hole-making when holes aren’t in a specific construction
view.
4-Axis Wire EDM support from ruled surface definitions
including Multi-pass Skim cuts, Glue Stops, etc.
Clamp avoidance.
High Speed Machining support, including user specified
repositioning parameters.
Pattern Slicing feature adds automatic toolpath
segmentation of multiple 2-Axis or 3-Axis milling toolpaths based
upon Z slice dimension. Automatically inserts tool change records
and other machining commands to facilitate post processing.
5 axis Trimming, including the ability to trim excess material
from the edge or periphery of a part in 5-Axis motion. Toolpath
generation from wireframe geometry with side and depth control
relative to geometry, all standard lead-in/out methods, and
automatic interpolation between non-parallel tool vectors. Ideal
for water jet, laser, or router trimming of complex shapes.
2-Axis Mill TrueMill Option
TrueMill solves the
fundamental milling problem that has existed since the first crank
handle was turned on the first milling machine. Enables CNC milling
machines, for the first time, to do what they have always been capable
of. Not based on adjustments to or optimizations of existing tool path
algorithms. Dynamically manages tool engagement and feed rates,
resulting in dramatically increased material removal rates.
TrueMill - Revolutionary new patent-pending milling
toolpath engine that precisely controls the tool’s engagement with
the material. Enables machining with much more aggressive machining
parameters (depths, stepovers, speeds, feeds), which in turn results
in significantly reduced cycle times.
TrueMill Reference. Automatically mill with a smaller tool to
remove material left from a large tool of a previous TrueMill
operation.
