During our continued testing of
the released SURFCAM Velocity v3.0 (B165), we discovered
two technical issues and an implementation oversight relating to
our new 4- and 5-axis operations. The technical issues are
resolved with the attached Patch file. The implementation
oversight will be addressed in the forthcoming service pack.
PATCH FILE:
Issues: In certain cases, generating 4- and 5-axis operations
may prevent subsequently generated toolpath templates (for any
toolpath type) from being properly saved. Also, the C-View
associated with a 4- or 5-axis operation does not always
properly update during regeneration.
Resolution: The fixes for these
issues are contained in the attached file. Please overwrite the
current “New5Axis.dll” file located in the SURFCAM load folder
(for example, C:\SURFCAM\Velocity3) with the downloaded file.
http://www.surfware.com/downloads/VelocityVer3/New5Axisdll.zip
(be sure to unzip the file after downloading).
After this new file is installed, any regeneration of 4- or
5-axis toolpaths that were created in build 165 (or earlier, in
the case of beta versions) requires the reselection of geometry.
Regenerating such toolpaths with original geometry most likely
will not work. Toolpaths generated after the installation of
this patch should have no such restrictions.
SERVICE PACK (15 APR 07)
Issue: The implementation oversight concerns the axis of
rotation for new 4-axis toolpaths only. Rotations are currently
limited to be about the X axis.
Resolution: This limitation will be removed in the Velocity v3.0
Service Pack 1 release.
Please remember that the current 4- and 5-axis functionality
remains available in the “Classic” multi-axis functions, which
can be accessed through the Tools > Options > NC Defaults dialog
box. Please contact Technical Support for any required
assistance.
