- Windows Vista™ Compatibility
SURFCAM has achieved the “Works with Windows Vista™”
certificate from Microsoft®. The Windows Vista compatibility
ensures that SURFCAM delivers an improved experience when
running on the latest computer hardware and software. A major
aspect of Windows Vista support is SURFCAM's use of Microsoft
DirectX® graphics technology enabling superior graphics
performance.
- SolidWorks®
Version 2008
Associativity to SolidWorks now supports
SolidWorks version 2008 parts and assemblies. The associativity
link dynamically monitors engineering changes and automatically
updates all necessary toolpath operations in SURFCAM. This will
benefit users of SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDO (Parts Design Only)
and the recently introduced SolidWorks PD&A (Parts Design &
Assemblies).
- TrueMill®
Constant Feed Rate
Currently by default, TrueMill reduces the
feed rates on inside arc moves. For most machining applications,
these feed changes are unnecessary. TrueMill is designed to
never exceed the specified tool engagement. This means that the
chip thickness can never become too large anywhere along the
TrueMill toolpath and there is no need to slow down anywhere. By
keeping the feed rate constant on all TrueMill cutting moves,
milling output can be significantly increased, the quality of
the cut will improve and tool life will improve, especially for
hard materials. To output constant feed rates on all TrueMill
cutting moves, open the SURFCAM.INI file and set TMConstantRate
= 1.
- Other Enhancements:
- Faster Geometry Selection — This
enhancement is particularly noticeable when using the MultSelOn
mode for selection of a large number of elements (for example:
point cloud data or large complex surface parts).
- Faster Processing — Planar and
Z-Finish toolpath operations now process faster when using
containment boundaries.
- Faster Loading — Loading speed of
certain .SCPRT files has been improved.
- Improved Graphics — The new Grid
Points display allows better visualization of the current CView.
The grid points are now transparent and their visibility can be
adjusted (Tools > Options > Display > Shading > Ambient Light).
- Improved CAD Interoperability —
Support of the most recent releases from Autodesk®, Catia®,
Pro/Engineer®, and UG® (NX) has been refined to ensure accurate
data exchange.
