SURFCAM Troubleshooting

If SURFCAM fails to START or RUN when
clicking on the Icon, check these settings.
Check SURFCAM Requirements
- Support Operating Systems
- Windows 2000 sp4
- Windows XP sp2
- Windows x64
- Windows Vista
- Graphics Card with Direct X9 Drivers.
- NVIDIA Quadro Series Recommended
- ATI Fire GL Series Recommended
Check Display Requirements
- Are you running at least 1024x768
resolution?
- Is your Color Depth set to 32 bit?
- Is your Hardware Acceleration set to
FULL?
- Does your Graphics Card have at least 32
MB RAM?
- Is your Graphics Driver DX9 compatible?
- Run DXDiag from the RUN menu, click
Display Tab, Click Test Direct 3D button
Do you get an Error
Message?
Check File Issues
- Did you manually edit your
C:\SURFCAM\Velcity3\Surfcam.ini file or overwrite it with
another copy?
- (try renaming the
Surfcam.ini file to Surfcam.ini.old then copy\paste the
Surfcam.ini file from the \Velocity3\Def folder and make
sure to uncheck the "read only" box before Starting
SURFCAM.
- Check your C:\SURFCAM\Velocity3\ folder
for the presence of a *.SCBAK file.
- (this is the auto
backup file and it may be corrupt, delete the file)
Check File and Folder Permissions
- Do you have Administrative Permissions?
- (only
necessary to install)
- What username were you logged in as when
you installed SURFCAM?
- (your profile may not
have any or proper permissions)
- Do you have Modify Permission to the
C:\SURFCAM folder or installed location?
- (this is the minimal
permissions, FULL is better.)
Registry Issue
- The Registry may have an Invalid MRU path
or a inaccessible \\UNC path.

List and delete String Values)
Check Anti-Virus Software
- Disable your Anti-Virus Software
- (if this works you
can add the SURFCAM.exe or Directory to the Exclusion
List)
Check for Incompatibility with other
Software
- Close all applications
- (other software could
reduce the hardware acceleration)
- Check your Event View for any Error that
may help diagnose.
- Direct X software issue, try reinstall
Direct X
SIM - Security Device Drivers
- Are you trying to use the Software in
DEMO mode?
- Do you have the SIM attached to the
Parallel or USB Port?
- (The SIM may be
defective, try on a different USB Port or PC)
Bad Installation
- Uninstall SURFCAM and delete these
Registry Entries
- Backup your Config
files, Post and SCPRT files. (this
util should help)
- Double Check the
SURFCAM folder for Customer Files
- Uninstall SURFCAM
- Delete these Registry
Values
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SURFWARE
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SurfCam
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Surfware

- Reboot and Re-Install
